Artist Statement

Many have walked alongside, but none have walked in my shoes. I am an Afro Honduran tap dancer interested in sharing the African diaspora across Latin America through the lens of percussive dance. My people, the Garifuna, are a mix of African and indigenous Carib people, and our art is percussive and rhythmic in song and dance. I carry a constant, internal percussive vibration daily and tap dance has always served as an expressive outlet to this frequency.

My work leans heavily on my identity as an immigrant, my constant pursuit of the American dream, and the marginalization of Black everything. While it enriches my connection to others with similar backgrounds, experiences, and dreams, it also brings my story to others from different backgrounds and life experiences.
